Commuter parking to improve

06_Parking_Lot_cmykA Commuter Parking Expansion proposal was passed by Student Senate and Cabinet. This Spring, commuting students will have access to 16 new parking spots on campus. A much needed and long awaited upgrade from the current parking system will be implemented immediately upon return from Winter Break. The 8 spaces to the side of Bogue Hall (those that face Moses, directly accessible from College Street), and the 8 spaces between SAGE Hall and Waldron Gym (those that face the gym, just recently converted from Faculty/Staff parking to Student parking) will be Commuter parking upon return from Winter Break. The 11 spaces in Ames Circle currently allocated to Commuters will remain as well. In alignment with current practice and enforcement, the new parking spaces will be for Commuter use only during the school week, and will be open for general parking during the weekend. Those in non-compliance will be ticketed. The goal of this new policy is to grant better parking access to those who come to and go from campus regularly. At the end of the semester, this new policy will be evaluated. The results will be taken into account as an entirely new parking system is currently in the process of being planned. For more information about the new Commuter Parking system, please contact Jill Bunge, Commuter Representative to Student Senate.
