B Y THE FRISBEE CAPTAINS

The Flying Squirrels played a home Tournament – Zen and the Art of Ultimate –  on October 24th, 2009.The teams that participated included Bard, Clarkson, East Stroudsburg University, GMC Team A, GMC Team B, GMC Alumni, Hampshire, Johnson State College, Wesleyan, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Sydney Gard, GMC sophomore and Frisbee captain states, “It was so wet and so cold. It rained so hard! It felt like every time it stopped, it would start up a few minutes later. Our hands were numb, and mine could barely close—which was so hard to work around when it came to actually catching the disc. Fortunately and unfortunately, we didn’t even make it to finals. By the end of the fourth game, teams were like, ‘let’s get the f**k outta here!’ and we RAN to the showers.”

Due to the hard rain, the final game was canceled. “It was about as sloppy as drunk sex,” says senior Frisbee captain Jeffrey Davis on playing the game in the rain.

“Overall, I think the day went well,” Gard states, “I love this team because we all work together—and we work hard! Our field and food crews really pulled together to get things set up, which was great because it kept things quite a bit calmer in the chaos.”

Sophomore captain Leanne Callahan states, “I’ve never played Frisbee before I came here. And now, I have such love for the game and the team. It’s like we’re a big silly family.”

Upcoming Tournaments:

Jekyll Island, Georgia – High Tide – March 2010 (Spring Break)
