Comeback not enough for men’s basketball team
The Green Mountain College men’s basketball team went to Thomas College on Thursday night to play their semifinal playoff game. “We were ready and knew what we were in for because we had lost to Thomas twice this season,” senior guard Fabian Ferreira stated.
Thomas was up by 16 going into the half, but that was not going to stop the Eagles from trying to fight back. They were down by as much as 18 points during the second half when GMC head coach Todd Montana called a timeout to calm the players down. The men were chipping away and doing whatever they could to get back in the game. With seven minutes left on the clock, they pulled within two points.
However, the Terriers retaliated through great outfield shooting, and managed to make a 10-point gap. The Eagles never recovered, and the game ended 90-84. “We put everything on the court that we had, and although the result didn’t turn out the way we wanted, we have no regrets,” senior guards Herley Pellow and Richard Baily stated after the game. The Eagles finished the season with a 16-11 record.
